Michael Moyer is the Chief Executive of New Congress, LLC.  Prior to this, he was the Managing Member and CEO of PalMet Venture, LLC.  He is an active real estate investor and developer, primarily in Chicago. 

Mr. Moyer has over 25 years of real estate and business experience. He began his career at Price Waterhouse & Co, in the Seattle and Anchorage Offices. After earning master’s degrees in Accounting (MAcc) and Political Science (MA), he joined Kenneth Leventhal in Chicago. Mr. Moyer next became Vice President of Finance for Melvin Simon and Associates, the private entity that became Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG). Mr. Moyer worked with the Van Kampen family beginning in 1995, during which he sourced, developed, and managed various real estate assets.

During 2008 and 2009 Mr. Moyer pursued investment in Iraq, working with the Government of Iraq and international investors to define needs, objectives, and opportunities for the economy of Iraq.  

Mr. Moyer has been a board member of various civic and community organizations including the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, League of Historic American Theaters, Mental Health Association of Illinois, and the YMCA.


New Congress, LLC was created in 2014 for the purpose of redeveloping and managing the Congress Theater as a mixed-use project.


PalMet Venture, LLC was established to redevelop the historic mixed use block adjacent to City Hall in Chicago’s Loop.  PalMet Venture, with Michael Moyer as Managing Member, has also functioned as a platform to develop office, hotels, and residential projects with gross valuation exceeding $1 billion.  The $120 million Chicago Loop project was and continues as a catalyst for revitalization of the Theater and Financial Districts. The American Institute of Architects recognized the project for Distinguished Historic Renovation. The Theater hosted the world premiers of The Producers, Aida, and the U.S. premier of MAMA MIA, as well as extended runs of the first touring production of The Lion King. The Theater presented recently the world premier of Kinky Boots which won the TONY Award for Best New Musical of 2013.

During 2008 and 2009 PalMet pursued real estate and other sector investments in Iraq. Working on the ground with the Government of Iraq, and international investors to define needs, objectives, and opportunities for the economy of Iraq. Among the investments considered were: commercial poultry production, single and multi-family residential housing development, hospitality including full and limited service hotels, mixed use office, and a network of cold storage facilities.
